Always wondered about how the Menorah (was) turned into "advent lights" in Scandinavia. Especially since I grew up calling them "Jewish lights" as much as "advent lights".
Guess what, the internet has the answer. They came to Iceland from Sweden in the 1960s and gained much more popularity there than elsewhere in Scandinavia, where they didn't until the 80s. (ref: http://visindavefur.hi.is)
But what puzzles me is how/why they were "bent" like that into a Christmas tree-ish shape.
