It's Friday night and this gal is spending it home alone, enjoying having the mansion to herself this weekend because in a couple of weeks she'll be leaving the Queen's Club and heading over to Rodent Street all the way across town. I signed the new lease this morning so in the beginning of April I'll be moving in with 3 male PHD students, a worthy experiment!
So how am I spending my quality alone time? I'm chopping fruit for my morning mix for the next 10 days, the dishwasher and the washing machine are being put to good use, I have Ashes to Ashes on in the background and a beer in my hand. Wild times I tells ya!
Ah, Ashes to Ashes, Miami Vice eat your heart out! This sorta-sequel to Life on Mars is my favourite show at the moment, I'm in 1980s heaven every Thursday. Last night I realised just how great the soundtrack to the show is. It would be oh so easy just to jam in some cheesy 80s greatest hits mix, the songs that are used are not necessarily the biggest hits but they just hit the mark every time (and now I want to go dancing!). Oh and it has Mr. Machismo in it, DCI Gene Hunt, the Gene Genie, whom I have an old-man-crush on ;)
Today I paid a visit to my old local library on Euston Road and saw one of the more pathetic come-ons I've had the pleasure to witness. This rather buxom girl of some Middle Eastern descent or other was reading a novel in the newspaper-reading-seating-area and this scrawny guy was hovering around in the easy read/big font section right behind her, every now and then giving her the once over. Finally he plucked up the courage, randomly chose a book and walked over to her table, "Erm, hi, is this chair free? I mean is anyone sitting here? Can I sit down? Can I sit here with you?" The lady in question turned her head, gave him the evil eye and the poor guy retreated to the easy read section with his tail between his legs. Next time I suggest a ghetto blaster and some Peter Gabriel pal! What lady can resist a bit of Lloyd Dobler action? Alltaf stuð á bókó! Ef aðeins fólk vissi!
